Washington, D.C. – Today, President Donald J. Trump outlined his plan for fixing the U.S. tax system, making it more globally competitive and helping entrepreneurs and small businesses get out of their growth rut by lowering rates, which will support investment in their firms and wage growth for their hardworking employees.

Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council) president & CEO Karen Kerrigan said the following about President Trump’s tax plan:

“President Trump’s plan is an ideal one for America’s small businesses and entrepreneurs. Dramatically lowering rates, full expensing, and cleaning up the complexity and inequities in the system will boost the bottom-line of small businesses, which means more resources to re-invest in their firms and employees. The economy needs a big spark for sustainable growth, and the bold tax reform package presented by President Trump will provide that positive jolt our economy needs. The Congress needs to take action and quickly move tax reform forward so our entrepreneurs and small business sector can create more jobs, invest more confidently and innovate more freely.“

Raymond J. Keating, SBE Council’s chief economist added:

“Reducing income tax rates on all U.S. entrepreneurs and businesses would be a major positive step forward for our economy, which would help boost economic, productivity, income and employment growth. Indeed, a 15% tax rate would make the U.S. one of the best places to do business in the world, especially when combined with other strengths in our economy, such as a strong proclivity for entrepreneurship, strong property rights, and a diverse, skilled workforce.”
