KEY VOTE:  Vote for Small Business Fairness – Support the Foxx-Davis Amendment to Modernize the U.S. Sugar Program

Dear Member of the U. S. House of Representatives:

The Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council) and its more than 100,000 members nationwide urge you to vote for fairness for small businesses by supporting an amendment to the 2018 Farm Bill that will reform the nation’s outdated and harmful sugar program. Modernizing the program, which has strong bipartisan support, will help small businesses better compete in the marketplace and grow their firms.

SBE Council will KEY VOTE the Foxx-Davis amendment for our forthcoming Ratings of Congress. A vote for the amendment is a vote for entrepreneurs and small business.

As you well know, small business growth and survival depends upon a healthy marketplace and being able to effectively control and manage costs. Due to the convoluted and outdated U.S. sugar program, small businesses and food manufacturers are forced to pay twice as much for sugar as the rest of the world. Federal programs should not undermine small businesses and their ability to compete. The harmful U.S. sugar program does just that and must be fixed.

The program is rigged to benefit mega-processors at the expense of small businesses and their employees. It’s time to move the program into the modern world. It’s time to reform this 80-year old protectionist give-a-way to big special interests. The Foxx-Davis amendment makes modest reforms and provides fairness.

Please vote for America’s small businesses and food entrepreneurs.  Vote in favor of the Foxx-Davis amendment to the 2018 Farm Bill.  Thank you, in advance, for your support.

Sincerely,

Karen Kerrigan, President & CEO
