UPDATE: On October 6, 2015, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 1525 by voice vote.

The Honorable Scott Garrett

United States House of Representatives

Washington, DC 20515

Dear Representative Garrett:

The Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council) is pleased to support H.R. 1525, the “Disclosure Modernization and Simplification Act of 2015.”

H.R. 1525 directs the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to revise Regulation S-K filing, with direct instructions to reduce burdens on some public companies, including small businesses.  In addition, H.R. 1525 forces the SEC to eliminate sections of Regulation S-K that are no longer necessary.

Federal government regulations are consuming and blocking capital that could be invested in promising small businesses and entrepreneurial ventures. Growing firms reinvest capital and expand, which leads to more hiring, equipment purchases, innovations and a stronger, more competitive U.S. economy.

SBE Council’s members are pleased to support you in your efforts to improve capital formation and access for America’s entrepreneurial sector.

Thank you for your leadership, and support of America’s entrepreneurs. Please let us know how we can assist you in advancing H.R. 1525 into law.

Sincerely,

Karen Kerrigan, President & CEO
