The Honorable Tim Walberg

2436 Rayburn Building

Washington, DC 20515

Dear Representative Walberg:

The Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council) is pleased to support H.R. 598, the Taxpayers Right-to-Know Act of 2015.

No entrepreneur would survive in the marketplace if they ran their business like the federal government.  Every business owner has to treat and allocate their financial and human capital resources with great care, and it is about time the federal government does the same with our hard-earned tax dollars.

H.R 598 would hold federal regulators accountable to taxpayers and require much-needed disclosure from these federal agencies.  The legislation requires that all federal agencies provide taxpayers with an annual report card for all federal programs. This only makes sense. At a time when businesses are more transparent with customers, suppliers, financers and government, the federal government should embrace this practice. Listing all programs and their functions, staff, administrative cost and performance metrics will improve efficiency and help to determine areas where there is overlap and redundancy.

SBE Council is pleased to support this important piece of legislation to reform our federal government so it works more efficiently for small business taxpayers.
