The Honorable Keith Rothfus

U.S. House of Representatives

Washington, DC  20515

Dear Representative Rothfus:

On behalf of the 100,000 members of the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council), I am pleased to announce our support for H.R. 3797, the “Satisfying Energy Needs and Saving the Environment Act,” or SENSE Act.

Solutions that are wins for the environment, our economy, and consumers need to be fully embraced and supported by Washington and government at all levels.  H.R. 3797 defends the coal refuse industry against unsuitable regulation, enabling its businesses and workers to continue their important work of cleaning up waste coal piles and converting these to affordable energy. One-size-fits-all environmental policies must not endanger a private-sector led solution that is creating significant benefits for people and the environment. The SENSE Act ensures that federal regulation does not undermine or end these benefits, where currently the coal refuse industry has removed more than 214 million tons of material and cleaned-up formerly polluted sites at no cost to taxpayers.

Thank you for your leadership on this important issue, and your support of America’s entrepreneurs, innovators and small businesses.
