Tax Relief and Reform is Key to Entrepreneurship and Main Street’s Revival

Washington, D.C.  – Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council) President & CEO Karen Kerrigan issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s “Bring Back Main Street” speech today in St. Charles, Missouri:

“There’s a new spirit on Main Street these days as small business owners and local communities are confident about the economy and what that means for their growth and economic development plans.  Many small and rural communities were left behind by the economy of the last decade where entrepreneurship, investment and quality job creation all suffered due to a limp and lopsided recovery. But now, bold policy changes supporting investment and business creation are here and tax reform is one of those key policy pieces that, if enacted, will fuel the confidence, optimism and capital needed to ensure every corner of America benefits from strong economic growth. President Trump is right, everyone must have the opportunity to get ahead in America.  Entrepreneurs and small business owners thank the President for his leadership and actions that are fueling their optimism and renewed growth.

“As President Trump said, the Senate must pass a tax package. Entrepreneurs want a bill signed this year. Tax relief in 2018 will fuel confidence and help to rebuild Main Streets across America by encouraging people to pursue their dream of starting a business. New business creation is not only essential to Main Street America, it is critical to the U.S. economy where we need robust entrepreneurship in order to stay the most innovative, competitive and dynamic economy in the world. With tax relief, dynamic small business growth and entrepreneurship will be restored, and America will lead again.”
