CNBC Report: Here’s Why Tariffs Have Some Small Business Owners on Edge

By at 20 April, 2018, 9:39 am

In a CNBC Nightly News report and article, reporter Kate Rogers talked with small business owners about the impact of President Trump’s proposed tariffs on their operations and livelihood. A soybean farmer from Nebraska said the proposed tariffs “might mean make or break for the farm that’s been in her family for more than a hundred years.”

For SBE Council member Jason Duff, the uncertainty is making things difficult to move forward with expansion plans: “‘Our whole business is a short-term challenge. We want to see things to be fairer, we also want to see manufacturing jobs come back to places like my town in Ohio,’ he said. ‘We also appreciate certainty, but right now there is greater uncertainty in the market, and it’s difficult for me to plan and take initiative, and take on risk in doing future projects.’”
