CNBC: The Labor Squeeze – Strong Economy Has Downside for Main Street

An October 12 CNBC article by Kate Rogers looks at the labor market in the growing economy and how small businesses are being impacted by an increasingly tight one.  SBE Council president & CEO Karen Kerrigan is interviewed for this piece, where she discusses the current challenge of many small businesses.  Rogers also talks to two small business owners who share their situations, and how they are adapting and competing for labor.

As noted by Kerrigan in the piece:

“Without adequate labor, small businesses are finding that they cannot fully take advantage of growth opportunities. This is very frustrating, as prior economic and policy uncertainties were holding many small businesses back from investing in their growth. Now that revenues are picking up and expansion opportunities are more prevalent, labor conditions are the big challenge stunting growth.”
