Will the US-China Trade Standoff Ruin Christmas? Karen Kerrigan Joins Yahoo! Finance to Discuss

On July 2, SBE Council president & CEO Karen Kerrigan joined Yahoo! Finance to discuss US-China trade standoff and how it is impacting orders for Christmas wrapping paper, and small to mid-size businesses in general. Did you know approximately 70% of holiday gift wrapping paper comes from China?

As Karen stated in the interview, the effort to identify and cut new deals with alternative suppliers outside of China is another big impact of the trade dispute on U.S. businesses:

“From our perspective, that hurts innovation that hurts growth. I mean that is time and money that should be going into growing the business,” said Kerrigan.

Chinese businesses are looking to relocate their businesses outside of China in order to maintain operations and keep their businesses alive, which in this case may be too late for Chinese manufacturers of gift-wrapping paper this holiday season given orders are being placed and it takes time to relocate and scale up business operations.
