Washington, D.C. – In response to today’s D.C. Circuit decision largely upholding the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC’s) 2017 “Restoring Internet Freedom” order, Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council) president & CEO Karen Kerrigan issued the following statement:

“Today’s court decision is a win for entrepreneurs and small businesses. Upending the FCC’s sensible 2017 order would have meant a return to intrusive red tape and weaker broadband and wireless infrastructure investment.

“Due to the flexible and practical regulatory framework pursued by FCC Chairman Ajit Pai, investment is more robust and consumers and entrepreneurs are greatly benefitting from new innovations. The court’s decision today will help to fuel the growth and vitality of the broadband ecosystem. While there are a few narrow issues that have been remanded for consideration, the decision will keep the gears of investment and innovation churning, which is critically important for strong entrepreneurship, small business growth, and our nation’s economy.”
