Washington, D.C. – Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council) president & CEO Karen Kerrigan issued the following response to the plan of Democrat presidential candidate Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Massachusetts) on how she will pay for her $52 trillion “Medicare for All” program:

“Wow. There’s a reason why Senator Warren wanted to keep this plan under wraps for as long as possible. Forcing small businesses to surrender to the government the money they pay for their employees’ health coverage, and empowering government tax collectors to search for $2.3 trillion from stronger enforcement of the tax laws is pretty shocking. As expected, there’s big taxes on ‘wealthy’ people, higher taxes on capital gains and all businesses, and using business as a back-stop if not enough money is raised to support her fantasy program.  The bottom line is that all Americans, including middle-class families that she pledged not to tax, will be forced to pay for this scheme. None of it adds up. Senator Warren’s math does not add up, and her plan is not reality based.”
