Washington, D.C. – Today at the White House, President Donald J. Trump signed the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council) president & CEO Karen Kerrigan attended the signing ceremony and issued the following statement:

SBE Council president & CEO Karen Kerrigan discussed the market-opening opportunities of USMCA with Wisconsin dairy farmer Amy Penterman, Dutch Dairy LLC, at the USMCA signing event at the White House on January 29.

“USMCA will significantly benefit entrepreneurs and small businesses across many sectors of the U.S. economy. The digital, intellectual property, good regulatory practices, agricultural and unique small business chapters will facilitate and encourage global expansion for America’s small firms. Provisions dedicated to cutting costs and red tape at the border are especially vital for small businesses in terms of their ability to compete profitably and pursue opportunities in these markets. In addition, thousands of small business suppliers will benefit from the certainty and new investment opportunities that will emerge from USMCA.  SBE Council applauds President Trump for his leadership, the hard work of his negotiating team, and all members of Congress who supported USMCA.  Entrepreneurs and small businesses represent a dominant share of U.S. businesses that are active in the global marketplace, and we look forward to working with the Administration on providing more American small businesses with global growth opportunities through the various other trade agreements currently in the works.”
