SBE Council’s Kerrigan Responds to President Trump’s Move to Scrap Negotiations on a COVID-19 Package

Washington, D.C. – The following statement can be attributed to Karen Kerrigan, president & CEO of the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council) regarding President Donald Trump’s decision to pull out of negotiations on a COVID-19 package until after the November 7, 2020 elections:

“To close the door and scrap negotiations on a COVID-19 relief and recovery package is to close the door on vital support for small businesses and their employees. Doing nothing will result in a painful outcome for local economies nationwide. I cannot think of anything more important than helping our country and the economy get through the COVID crises. Walking away from the negotiating table equates to walking away from Main Street and our nation’s small businesses. The closure of millions of small businesses is at stake. President Trump must rethink this decision.”
