Washington, D.C. – On January 7, President-elect Biden announced additional nominees for his economic team, including Isabel Guzman who has been nominated to serve as Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator.  Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council) president & CEO Karen Kerrigan issued the following statement in response to the nomination:

“Isabel brings substantive small business and startup experience to the table, which is critical given the state of Main Street and the need to help entrepreneurs rebuild and strengthen their businesses.  Moreover, the SBA is playing an outsized role during the pandemic in delivering capital to small businesses, and her experience working within the agency during the Obama Administration provides her with a needed head start to lead the agency during this challenging period. Isabel also brings a solid reputation of constructive engagement with the small business community, which will help the SBA team gain invaluable advice and feedback to ensure capital and other support programs are delivered efficiently and effectively.

“The nation faces a big small business and jobs hole as a result of the pandemic, but the good news is that millions of Americans have a made their first move in starting a business.  If confirmed, SBE Council and our members look forward to working with Isabel to ensure these entrepreneurs and existing small business owners have the resources and support they need to succeed. An effective and responsive SBA can help them do that, and in turn restore the nation’s economy to vibrant growth.”
