“As innovators, small businesses found new ways to acclimate, and many turned to technology to survive the economic downturn and keep their operations running.”

There’s no doubt that technology has played a central role in the survival of many of our nation’s small businesses during the COVID-19 crisis. And, as SBE Council president & CEO Karen Kerrigan expressed in a piece on the American Edge Project blog, the innovation and support provided by the technology sector must be encouraged and applauded through sound policies to allow for more innovation and tools that benefit entrepreneurs and their businesses:

“Looking to the future, technology will continue to help strengthen the ecosystem for strong startup activity and small business growth. As such, policymakers must work to promote policies that protect America’s technological edge to ensure our entrepreneurs can lead U.S. economic recovery and growth, and lead the world in innovation.”

This month is National Small Business Month, an important month to celebrate the important role of small businesses in our economy but also the role that technology platforms and digital tools have played in the survival and transformation of many small businesses during the pandemic.
