RE: What We Urge You To Do To Protect Against The Threat of Ransomware

In a memo sent to business association leaders including SBE Council, a June 3 Memo from Anne Neuberger, Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor for Cyber and Emerging Technology is urging CEOs and the business community to take immediate steps “to protect yourself, as well as your customers and the broader economy.”

The list of 5 immediate steps, which are detailed in the memo, include:

● Backup your data, system images, and configurations, regularly test them, and keep the backups offline.

● Update and patch systems promptly.

● Test your incident response plan.

● Check your security team’s work.

● Segment your networks.
