Washington, D.C. – Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council) president & CEO Karen Kerrigan issued the following statement after House Republicans passed the Limit, Save, Grow Act:

“SBE Council applauds Speaker McCarthy and House Republicans for passing the Limit, Save, Grow Act – legislation that is important to securing our nation’s fiscal future, tackling inflation, and avoiding a near-term debt default. Republicans and Democrats both agree that a government default would have a shocking effect on the economy, and by extension America’s small business sector. We encourage both parties to negotiate a reasonable solution to avoid a default. Indeed, many small businesses would not be able to withstand another financial hit on the scale that a default would generate as a follow on to their valiant efforts surviving the COVID shutdowns followed by an inflationary, supply chain and labor market mess that is still disrupting business viability and competitiveness to this day. Entrepreneurs, Main Street businesses and their employees are counting on Congress and President Biden to find a solution, as they can ill afford to have uncertainty and economic conditions degrade beyond their current state.”
