Kerrigan Statement on Debt Ceiling Deal Between President Biden and Speaker McCarthy

Washington, D.C. – Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council) president & CEO Karen Kerrigan issued this statement following the agreement between President Biden and Speaker McCarthy on a deal to raise the federal debt ceiling:

“SBE Council is pleased to see that President Biden and Speaker McCarthy have come to an agreement to responsibly raise the nation’s debt ceiling. This reasonable solution will put the nation on a more sustainable fiscal trajectory while also averting  an economically damaging government default. A government default would pose a significant threat to America’s small businesses, job creators, and entrepreneurs. The agreement protects small businesses in a number of important ways. President Biden and Speaker McCarthy deserve praise for their leadership in crafting a responsible solution to this critical issue. SBE Council urges both chambers of Congress to secure the fiscal future of the country and support small businesses by swiftly passing this bipartisan proposal.”
