CES 2024 was an all-around success for exhibitors and attendees alike – 4300+ exhibitors including 1400 startups. More than 135,000 attendees from around the world gathered in Las Vegas, January 8-12 where the latest innovations were showcased and connections were formed.

In a “Competition Policy in Tech” session, SBE Council president & CEO Karen Kerrigan joined a panel to answer the question: “How should policymakers worldwide promote tech competition while protecting consumers and preserving innovation?”

Kerrigan noted the highly competitive and vibrant environment in the tech sector and beyond, and how tech platforms and innovative tools – such as AI – are helping to make small businesses more competitive and innovative. She added that actions taken by the U.S. federal government – notably the Federal Trade Commission – are severely undermining America’s startup ecosystem, and that U.S. policymakers must not follow the EU in adopting “Digital Markets Act”- style regulation. That is, unless they wish to replicate the moribund environment for innovation and startups that currently exists in Europe.

CES 2024 included 250 sessions and keynotes, some of which were recorded and can be found in the conference library here.
