The Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council) strongly supports the “Prove It Act.” The following statement can be attributed to SBE Council president & CEO Karen Kerrigan:

“Startups and small businesses need more effective systems in the federal government to provide awareness and accountability during the rulemaking process. Regulations are being finalized that impose burdensome and often unintended outcomes on small business competitiveness and growth simply because the use of the existing framework requiring analysis and engagement to determine small business impact is often flawed or circumvented.”

“The bipartisan Prove It Act strengthens the existing framework and fixes regulatory-process gaps and loopholes that are producing new rules that impose higher costs, greater complexity and more uncertainty for small businesses. The Prove It Act incorporates needed and practical improvements that will give entrepreneurs an enhanced voice when regulations are proposed, and a response mechanism that strengthens accountability and transparency when proper analysis and impact have not been completed.”

“SBE Council appreciates the bipartisan leadership of Reps. Bran Finstad, Yadira Caraveo and Nathaniel Moran in crafting this bipartisan solution for small businesses. Government rules and regulations have a disproportionate impact on startups and small businesses, and it is critical to our nation’s economy that regulators do what they can to lighten this load and help entrepreneurs more effectively compete against larger firms and in the global marketplace. SBE Council urges every member of the U.S. House to support the Prove It Act.”
