For a small business owner, having a great line of products with solid demand is an important milestone. But delivering those products in a timely manner and at a cost that works are key steps to business viability and growth.  Indeed, logistics management can be a steep challenge for many small business owners. Which is why Amazon’s launch of Amazon Supply Chain Services (ASCS) is good news for the small business community.

Amazon is opening its logistics network to businesses of all types and sizes, including companies that do not sell in Amazon’s store. The new service is offering small businesses access to Amazon’s network – from freight to fulfillment and final-mile shipping – through a centralized dashboard where business owners can select the solutions they need. Similar to how Amazon opened up Amazon Web Services (AWS) for cloud computing, businesses can now tap into a state-of-the-art logistics network built over decades to move products quickly and reliably.

For many small businesses, the availability of the logistics network could be a market differentiator and a competitive advantage. Supply chain complexity often hits small businesses harder than larger competitors. Small business owners or their teams may have to manage multiple providers across the journey from supplier to customer. Each handoff can mean more cost, less visibility, less control, and more time away from serving customers. By giving access to a connected logistics system, ASCS can help reduce that burden and allow small businesses to compete more effectively.

The Story Continues: Offering Tools that Help Small Businesses Compete & Grow

The new offering is an extension of Amazon’s long record of building tools that help small businesses scale. Fulfillment by Amazon helped sellers outsource the difficult work of packing, shipping, and returns. More recently, Amazon has expanded Multi-Channel Fulfillment and Supply Chain by Amazon, while adding AI-powered seller tools that support listing quality, advertising, inventory decisions, and business planning.

This momentum is reflected in Amazon’s 2025 Small Business Empowerment Report”, which found that a record number of independent sellers in its store surpassed $1 million in annual sales last year.

SBE Council’s March Small Business Technology Use Survey” points to the same conclusion about the value of the platform for small business sellers. As noted in the survey, small sellers continue to experience value in Amazon’s platform and tools. With 30% of small business owners reporting they use Amazon as a sales channel, 89% report that their Amazon margins are about the same or higher (66% report higher) compared to other sales channels.

Moreover, 98% of Amazon small sellers say the pricing structure enables competitive participation, and 94% agree that Amazon provides significant platform support to small business sellers.

Those findings reflect how entrepreneurs evaluate the platforms and partners that help them grow. ASCS is another strong example of innovation expanding opportunity. By extending its logistics capabilities beyond the Amazon store, Amazon is giving more small businesses a practical way to improve operations, reach customers, expand their market, and compete with confidence.
