On Tuesday, September 22, the Bayh-Dole Coalition will host a Capitol Hill event to unveil the Bayh-Dole Coalition’s new landmark report measuring the economic impact of America’s technology transfer system under the Bayh-Dole Act.
The program will explore key findings of the report, feature remarks from expert speakers, and include a panel discussion on Bayh-Dole’s role in driving America’s economy, global competitiveness, and national security.
Prepared for the Bayh-Dole Coalition by Vital Transformation, the new report examines nearly three decades of AUTM data to provide a comprehensive look at how inventions benefiting from federally funded research at U.S. universities and nonprofit hospitals and research institutions impacts the American economy — from trillions of dollars in economic activity and millions of American jobs to dramatic growth in patenting and commercialization.
The analysis also updates previous studies with five years of additional data from the AUTM licensing surveys and, for the first time, provides state-by-state insights into the reach of technology transfer across the country.
At a time of intensifying global competition, these new findings show what’s at stake for American innovation — and why protecting the Bayh-Dole system matters for our economic future.
